Portrait Union uses Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana) for portrait generation, with Replicate upscaling (Recraft Crisp + Real-ESRGAN fallback) to deliver final images at up to 4096 × 5120 pixels — enough resolution for museum-quality canvas prints at 300 DPI.
Clear, well-lit photos with the subject facing the camera work best. For pets, a head-on or slight angle shot is ideal. For people, standard portrait framing produces stunning results.
Absolutely. Your uploads are processed securely and never shared with third parties. Paid users' images are stored privately in their account. Free demo images are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Every new user gets 1 free preview session which creates 2 watermarked previews. To download a portrait in full HD without watermarks, choose a portrait pack. Each portrait includes 2 preview generations.
Yes! All purchased portraits are yours to use for personal or commercial purposes. Free watermarked previews cannot be used commercially.
No. Your portrait packs never expire. All your previews remain in your gallery and can be unlocked at any time.
Print orders are fulfilled by Gelato from the production facility closest to your delivery address, reducing transit times and carbon footprint. Typical delivery: 3–5 business days in the EU and US, 5–10 business days rest of world. Shipping is free worldwide on all print products. No customs fees within the EU.
If a generation fails due to a system error, your entitlement is automatically preserved. For billing issues, contact hello@portraitunion.com and we’ll help within 24 hours. EU customers retain the 14-day right of withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU for unused portrait credits — see our Refund Policy for full details.
We accept JPEG, PNG, and WebP images up to 10MB. For best results, use high-quality photos at least 512x512 pixels.
